DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, "Little's B&O Standard, Cumberland, MD" marked mvt and dial, Grade 936, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF original case with very attractive engine turning and engraving detail, white enamel DS dial, time-zone hands, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#11161. A very rare railroad marking, S.T. Little & Sons of Cumberland, Maryland were long time railroad watch inspectors for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, winds stiffly, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some typical fine to micro-fine scratches; dial with very small bits of white fill material evident at junction of center section and outer chapter indicating likelihood that dial segments have been assembled at some point in watch's history, otherwise dial excellent cosmetically with small patched edge flake under bezel at setting lever, faint outer chapter hl at 12:30, very mild discoloration at lower perimeter of seconds-register; excellent hands, minute with some areas of finish loss; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, superb engine turning and engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
